There's many reasons people spend Christmas alone, but Massicotte doesn't give us a reason, he just sings about it and tries not to cry. He lets listeners fill in the blanks, which I did, and that's why I fell instantly for this song. Even if you don't understand French, the guitar and smooth voice will be a welcome addition to your Noël playlist.
Clearly living in a flat in Montréal East, a traditionally poorer neighbourhood, Santa Claus (Father Christmas) forgot our guy even though he was good. He spends Christmas listening to his partying neighbours and looking out the window, with a frozen dinner, his cat and watching television.
Still, 'Joyeux Noël et Bonne Année' (Merry Christmas and Happy New Year), he sings.
