Short Dutch Notes

Quick round-up of recent Dutch additions to the Christmas canon:

Blackbird, she who will shine like a diamond on the upcoming CAGG Night in Paradiso, released her Christmas EP on green vinyl today. It features tracks that we know (like this one, and this one), and also an acoustic version of this New Year's song:

Douwe Bob & Miss Montreal's Please Just Come Home is a ballad with a slight country-vibe, with a universal feeling of longing (all good Xmas songs are about longing, as you know) and the bells to make it seasonal.

Miss Montreal knows a thing or two about writing original Christmas tunes, her 'Being Alone at Christmas' is considered a Dutch Xmas classic. She also wrote Christmas Hearts.

Not an original, but a Mexican rocking version of the ole Feliz Navidad by Dutch Xmas queen Judy Blank (she of California Christmas) from an EP called Season's Beatings with more covers, by the Beach Boys for instance.

Blanko & Ellen ten Damme, that's a big deal duet! And what a synthastic song:

Not the first original Blanko Christmas track, see here, and see this Pearl Jam cover. AND; Blanko is playing CAGG in Paradiso, on December 22! Yahoo!

Clean Pete, the sister duo that grew into an essential ornament on this blog over the years, will release TWO new songs this season. This exotic twangin' ballad about true miracles and sweet goodbyes, is the first:

Gerhardt, a.k.a. Gerrie's Imaginarium, is also a regular on CAGG (see here, and here), and he released a great seasonal song today with choirs, bells and the lot. Just a little too much of everything, which we like:

I quite like De Staat's version of "Let it Snow"!

Yes, that's a great version! But not a recent track, and in this post we only feature the newest stuff.
