Snowflakes Christmas Singles Club - 2025
Regulars since a long time at CAGG, the great Amsterdam Snowflakes Singles Club. We've had so many earlier posts about them, we stopped counting. But just click here and be amazed.
Real fans already know what this means: four current bands record a Christmas original and a cover, both pressed on a wonderful 7" Christmassy white vinyl.
First up:, the heavenly vocals in the Massachusetts-based indie duo Jeanines. Their 'Till I See Your Star Tonight' sounds like a kind of contemporary sunshine (indie) pop. Remarkable is their bold, up-tempo, hippie version of 'Listen, The Snow Is Falling', the Yoko Ono song that appeared first on the B-side of 'Merry Xmas (War Is Over)'.
Oscar Smit writes:
Bhopal’s Flowers from Montreal stand for psychedelic music. Their 'Incense, Myrrh & Gol'd' is a very original song about the Three Wise Men, featuring a sitar-like instrument in a leading role. The B-side, 'Jingle Bells', sounds as if it came straight off 'Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band' — pure psychedelia!
Silver Biplanes ("post-punk psychedelic krautrock glam band from the UK") touches a strange but well-known theme (you see?) in their track: 'Christmastime In Outer Space'. It is the band of Tim Vass, who was in The Razorcuts in the 1980s. On the B-side is 'Winter,' a song by The Loft, the band of Peter Astor, who released a few singles on Creation in the mid-1980s.

The London duo La Nouvelle Musique has a calm, folky feel. 'Face Of A Saint' is a beautiful piano song, and in the same vein is their highly atmospheric version of 'Walking In The Air', from the hugely popular English animated film ''The Snowman' (1982). In addition to an acoustic guitar, there is a light electro-acoustic undertone. The female vocals are almost heavenly.
