On to the Next Notes

Short notes on recently released songs:

Dutch queens of Christmas Clean Pete released another new track, in time for their upcoming Xmas tour. This song is called 'In de koude winter' that nods to 'In the bleak midwinter'. Love the spacey synths:

From Staten Island, NY, Louvers writes about this retro-song: 'A nostalgic dive into the days of VHS tapes, Super NES marathons, handwritten cards, incandescent lights, and long holiday drives home. It’s a warm, bittersweet wish for snow, simpler times, and the kind of Christmas magic you can’t quite wrap up anymore.' You got us at 'VHS tapes':

This needs some explaining. Skinwigs is a comedy chat podcast by Sam O'Leary and Ashlynne Tyson. They made a parody Christmas song, referring to Lily Allen's latest album, which is all about her marriage breaking down (and it's a fantastic album, by the way):

A song titled 'Santa Claus drives a white sedan' gets our attention, as did the artwork. And the sound quality. Homerecording fun by Bagl, do try the other two songs on this ultrashort EP as well. And spare the old guy some dimes.

From a compilation featuring also The Happy Somethings and Couch Boy, this delicious harrrd power pop cover from George Harrison's festive New Year's Eve singalong song 'Ding Dong, Ding Dong' (1974) by DelCobras

If it's a loud Last Christmas-cover you need, DelCobras got you covered as well, here

Nashville-duo Twen is 'playful, catchy and wildly energetic' (c/o Steregum) and so is this kaleidoscopic Christmas song:

Dutch rockband Pondertone shone brightly on the 2024 CAGG party in Paradiso, they took the biscuit with a REAL LOUD version of Silent Night. The guys recorded a version the day before, in hometown Utrecht, that is now on Bandcamp. It's part of a great, intense collection of Christmas songs by the band:
