Sleazy Christmas Boogie and Country
Spanish label Sleazy Records specializes in rock ’n’ roll, surf, etc. This year they are releasing two real Christmas vinyl singles. The Country Side Of Harmonica Sam is a great-looking country band, wearing cowboy hats and playing authentic American country music. Although the band is from Sweden, they won a major award in the Honky Tonk Group category in Memphis, Tennessee, in 2020. Their release ‘Winter Bungalow / Christmas Bar’ is full of wailing country vocals and steel-guitar sounds.
Completely different is ‘New Year’s Boogie’ by The Sirocco Bros. Despite making records for about 15 years, not much is known about the band. According to Discogs, it is a duo, and on the Bear Family Records website they are described as a “mysterious rockabilly band.” Their 'New Year’s Boogie' sounds the way a Canned Heat boogie might sound, with a slight skiffle influence. The B-side, 'Ghost Bells' is a somewhat eerie song about the ghosts of the deceased during Christmas.
