While we're all getting ready for the third annual Christmas à Gogo tonight in Amsterdam, here's a swinging song by Deux Filles et un Banjo from Montréal, Québec, called 'Chants Insipides' ('Insipids songs') from 2021, a darker time in Christmas history, so dark that we missed it!
If we go back to 2016, the band has an entire Christmas album called 'De Noël' ('Of Christmas'), with a little bit of everything in it. Here's the song 'Noël':
The last track of this six-track album, which I sadly cannot embed, is called 'Aspic', which is weird food in gelatin. I absolutely hate it, and the song hits home hard. Picture an old Québec auntie encouraging their guests to feel at home with traditional food from last century. That's all fine, but aspic isn't food, and Deux Filles et un Banjo are on my side!
