merry luxmas

Lux Interior (1946-2009, real name Erick Lee Purkhiser) was the singer and founder of the punkband The Cramps. He and his wife, Poison Ivy, where big record collectors. They also had a big collection of Xmas 45's. Long ago Lux put together a cassette compilation called 'Jeezus Fuck, It's Christmas'. This crazy cassette served as a base for 'Merry Luxmas It's Christmas in Crampsville!' a CD out on Cherry Red RecordsOn it are 31 tracks, mostly unknown and obscure songs ranging from blues, rock 'n roll, doo-wop to spoken word. Plus lots of novelty songs, like 'Christmas In The Congo' by The Marquees or 'I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas' this time by 10 year old Gayla Peevey, recorded in 1953.
