Born 'n raised in Southern California, infatuated by Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks and Taylor Swift, Anna Vaus records and writes country-tinged music. As far as I can tell, this is her first Christmas song and it's a beauty. She sings about going home for the holidays, talking to people who had bright prospects, and shattered dreams:
And the quarterback’s pouring whiskey
And the prom queen still lives down the street
And we talk and talk like we’re where we thought we’d be
Cause it’s Halloween on Christmas Eve
With an nod to Auld Lang Syne, this song has the right slightly depressed tone for a wet, wintery season.
