Ilonalowe (Marnie Burt to her mum and dad) is an emerging artist from the UK. Her voice reminds me a bit of Regina Spektor's, her (first?) single contains an adaptation of Auld Lang Syne. Which Regina Spektor also adapted, for this song. Back to Ilonalowe, whose adaption is less cheerful, more apt for these times. Beautifully sung, and just a reverb-heavy piano as company:
though all our friends are safe at home
with whiskey by the fire
you and I will sing to them
we'll send our song for miles
This is an artist to watch for the next year. Oh, and the more Christmassy song on this single is fine too.
