Charley Pride, 'country's first black superstar' (as the NYT would have it), passed away on Saturday. Complications of covid-19. A lot of fellow countrystars paid tribute, I see hits like 'Kiss An Angel Good Morning' posted. But he also made a Christmas album, in 1970. Featuring classics (Silent Night, Drummer Boy), songs written by others ('Christmas in my Home town', the title track) and a few self-penned songs. To be honest, it's not a lost country gem, but Charley's warm voice, a nostalgic ditty like Santa and the Kids sure is in place now:
Sorry about the extreme kitschy video.
