A great Rhythm & Blues Christmas

Our friend from the great Stubby's House Of Christmas already wrote about it a long time ago, but now I finally got a hold on some of the wonderfull CD's from the 'Cool Blue Christmas' serie on Contrast Records. If I am right it's a serie of nine CD's,  with R&B, Jazz , C&W and Blues from the period 1924-1963. The albums have titles like 'We Free Kings' (Jazz 1956-61), 'Boogie Woogie Santa Claus' (R&B/Blues 1945-49) or 'Christmas In Jail' (a double CD with pre WOII recordings). Here's Phil Moore's 'Blink Before Christmas' from 'Dig That Crazy Santa Claus'

  1. I've been tracking this since Stubby's post, though I never pulled the trigger, because it wasn't available. Now it seems to have been pulled from Amazon altogether in the U.S. The only place I could find these discs for sale here was on Amoeba. Even then the first one was missing. Not sure what happened to their distribution, but man this really looks like the definitive comp of 20th century R&B/blues/jazz Christmas music: where it all began! Thanks for the post!
